Awkward Question

Awkward question from a 5 year old: "Mom when Alida goes to heaven can we get a baby brother?" 

I paused, felt a wide range of emotions in a quick second, and then replied "Nadia maybe someday we will have a baby brother, but right now we have a baby sister and we are very grateful for that. And she is not going to heaven anytime soon, she is going to be with us for a long time." 

These innocent questions come quite often and always catch me off guard. I rarely have to wonder what goes through their minds and  I am very glad we have kept the lines of communication open when talking about our sweet Ella.
